Former police station and adjacent office buildings within Prudhoe town centre. The buildings are now surplus to requirements following relocation of the service and have been standing vacant. Offers opportunity for a conversion scheme. Two applications for redevelopment were submitted in 2018 potentially enabling development of a total of 9 flats, as well as an option for some non-residential floorspace. An application for alteration and conversion of the police station to a veterinary surgery and conversion of former office buildings to create 4 flats was initially permitted in 2018 (18/02051/FUL). An associated application for the alteration conversion of the police station to create 5 dwellings was then also approved in 2018 (18/02504/FUL). Both proposals were for supported living units (C3 use) providing specialist residential accommodation for vulnerable individuals. Whilst extra support will be provided to residents, these are self-contained flats that constitute as separate dwellings (C3 use). Either proposal could be delivered, or a combination of the two. As a result, the final yield from development could be 4, 5 or 9 flats on completion. This depends on whether the veterinary surgery element is progressed. Recently confirmed that all 9 residential units will be provided. Works commenced in 2021 and 7 units have been competed to date. Remaining 2 dwellings forecast for completion within the next five years.
